No job too small

My 91 year old mum recently said – ‘they always say March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb’  Well, whoever ‘they’ are, have been right about the lion.

Whilst the gardening wanes during the winter months, there is always still plenty to do. During March there were numerous fence repairs, garden clearances and small landscaping jobs, including a 2 day front garden transformation.

Despite the ongoing wet weather, its been pleasing to hear from our regular garden maintenance customers who are slowly returning to our schedule as they tentatively request to get their first lawn cut of the year.

All we need now is the temperature to go up a few degrees, a period of no rain and for the wind to die down to make it feel springlike – oh, and the lambs to appear in the fields around Hamstreet – not too much to ask is it?

Fence Repairs in Smeeth

A section of a 150ft fence had finally succumbed to the elements.

All that was needed to get this fence sturdy again was a concrete repair spur and 2 new timber posts cemented into the ground. The original fence was then reattached using repair brackets.

Annual Grass Reed Cutting in Appledore

Wellies on and armed with a long reach hedge trimmer and a rake made easy work of cutting and removing these beautiful grass reeds to near water level. They will be back to full height by summertime!

Garden Clearance in Ashford

Our client had moved in recently and had tackled a lot of the overgrown garden themselves. However, taking all the garden waste in their car to the tip was clearly not possible. So we happily filled the van a couple of times and problem solved.

New Timber Edging around a Vegetable Patch

Timber edging used around a garden can create an attractive and natural looking border frame for flower beds and paths. It is also cost effective compared to stone or the various metal and plastic products available.

This timber edging had seen better days around this large vegetable patch.

It was a simple job to replace, using pressure treated timber and stakes. A neat and tidy job

Hamstreet Garden Clearance

It’s always disappointing having to remove plants and shrubs, however, when gardens have been unkept for too long sometimes there is no other answer but to start again.

As was the case for these 2 beds surrounding this property. Ivy had invaded the cladding and a wisteria along with the brambles had entwined the smaller shrubs on the side of the property.

In the front, the shrubs had been planted without consideration of their potential height and spread and had grown too large, whilst another wisteria had climbed up into the roof via the down pipe.

Low Maintenance Solution

Our client decided they wanted these beds kept as low maintenance as possible, so we laid a good layer of 40mm plum slate chippings over weed suppressant fabric.

It made the house look much more inviting from the outside and let more light into the property.

The customer has assured me they will be placing pots on the plum slate, so all is not lost.

Greenspace Gardeners have been given the task of tackling the rear garden in April.

Landscaping in Brook

Due to the ongoing wet weather the access to around the side of this house had become too difficult to navigate.

So a quick one day solution was to lay smooth stone edging to create a path border.

A weed suppressant fabric was then covered by a bulk bag of Buff Cotswold stone chippings.
